Dear Amici di Bologna,

What a pleasure to meet you at our annual Amici di Bologna event and what a treat to host it at our new home in Washington DC! Thank you all for joining us and for your unwavering support of SAIS Europe. A full selection of pictures from our time together is available here.

We are all well aware that this event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the Amici di Bologna Steering Committee, led this year by alumna Adele Barzelay (B'16, '17), to whom we all owe special thanks.

Not only did we have one of the largest turnouts, with 150 alumni and guests, but also one of the best attended symposia thanks to the very interesting contributions of Professor Yuen Yuen Ang, Professor Narges Bajoghli and Professor Matthias Matthijs (B'02, '03). I was honored to join them on stage to discuss views on the upcoming US political elections and hope you all enjoyed the conversation.

I am also grateful to this year's many event sponsors who made it possible to subsidize recent graduates? attendance, and raise $19,000 for the Amici di Bologna Student Fund! The Fund ensures that the next generations of SAIS students enjoy an enriching and memorable experience in Bologna. Since its inception, more than 90 students benefitted from the Fund, which supports three main areas: tuition fellowships, stipend for internships and funds for extracurricular activities. Please read here how even a small gesture of generosity can impact the life of our students and do remember SAIS Europe when you consider your philanthropic priorities.

The purpose of our Amici di Bologna event is to allow SAIS Europe alumni based in the USA to reconnect with the school and there is no better time in our history than now. As you have heard during Dean Steinberg?s and my remarks, our Vision 2030 is very ambitious, and I am privileged to serve SAIS Europe at this transformational juncture in its 70 years of activity. I look forward to engaging our community in shaping this exciting future.

Thank you again for joining us and making this Amici edition yet another memorable event. It wouldn't have been possible without your enthusiasm and support. I look forward to welcoming you to Bologna for our annual Alumni Weekend on May 2-4, 2025 as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Bologna Center. Don?t miss it!
