Honoring Gabriella Chiappini: A Legacy of Connection

After 35 years of dedicated service, Gabriella Chiappini, Director of Development and Alumni Relations at SAIS Europe, will retire on September 30, 2025. Gabriella's warmth, vision, and tireless commitment have shaped generations of students and alumni, weaving bonds that define the SAIS Europe community.

To honor her extraordinary contributions, the SAIS Europe Advisory Council, spearheaded by Jill McGovern, launched the Gabriella Chiappini Fellowship. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of Council members, the initial goal of raising $250,000 in gifts and multi-year commitments by September 2025 was exceeded ahead of schedule. Inspired by this success, the initiative's leaders have set a bold new target: raise an additional $250,000 by June 30, 2026. With a 1:1 match from the Anderson Matching Program, this will bring the Fund's total to $1 million-enough to provide full tuition support for one SAIS Europe student every year, in perpetuity.

The initiative is now open to all SAIS Europe alumni, friends, and Hopkins colleagues who have known, worked with, and appreciated Gabriella. By joining this effort, you both honor her 35 years of service and invest in the future of SAIS Europe students. With the help of our generous community, the ultimate goal is to grow the fund to $1 million, permanently covering a full tuition fellowship for future students.

The first Gabriella Chiappini Fellowship recipient is Lorenzo Ciaffi from Italy. Read more about him here.

To join the effort and benefit from a unique matching opportunity, please contact the SAIS Europe Office of Development or make a gift now:
