Class of 1992 Initiative

For many Alumni, the year in Bologna has been a life-changing experience both from an academic and a personal point of view. Launching a class initiative is a meaningful way to celebrate this, giving to future generation of students the possibility to live the same kind of experience.

In April 2017 during Alumni Weekend, some members of the Bologna Class of 1992 - led by Erik Bomans, Jim Egan, David O'Callaghan and Ilaya Hopkins - had an informal meeting and decided to launch a fundraising initiative for fellowship support as an additional way to celebrate their Bologna 25th Anniversary in memory of Jim, Gwen and Sonja.

The goal is to raise $100,000 by October 2018, which coincides with the 25th Reunion in DC of those who spent their second year at SAIS Washington in 1993. The purpose is to open an endowment and distribute the Bologna Class of 1992 Fellowship in perpetuity.

The first lead gift of Euro 25.000 has been made by a classmate in recognition of the fellowship received in 1992 which made it possible to attend SAIS. The hope is to find someone willing to match the first lead gift and help to get this initiative close to the goal. In any case, every contribution will make a difference and will ensure that future generations can benefit from a SAIS education, and enjoy the legacy of the Bologna Class of 1992.

Questions and comments about gifts to the class initiative can be directed to the SAIS Europe development staff.
